ORP (Oxidation-Reduction Potential) sensor, also known as ORP Probe, is a device used to measure the redox potential in different water bodies. The basic principle of ORP Sensor is based on the working principle of electrochemical reaction and electrode. In solution, redox reaction is completed by the transfer of electrons. When oxidants and reductants are present, they undergo redox reaction in which electrons are transferred from reductants to oxidants. In this process, the redox potential of the solution changes. ORP sensor evaluates the redox ability of the solution by measuring this potential change.

For example, water with high dissolved oxygen content usually has a higher ORP value because oxygen is a strong oxidant.
